Amazing shots from Soulfire Photography of Allegra in her Captain Scarlett. :)

Here are some of the Aria pictures that, while awesome, didn’t fit into the Wrex and Aria story. There are two others, I think, but these are my favorites :D

Gillian McCarthy was a street kid before she joined the Templar Order. I think it’s that combination of sensuality and toughness that makes her so fearless and amazing in my eyes.

What you don’t see is the fact Allegra was being a total bad ass standing out in the wind and snow in Boston in that outfit. I was in a heavy winter coat and freezing.

Dragon Age: Until We Sleep #2 preview

True story: I get to SDCC with my Qunaribela costume like so

At one point, I was talking to Dave Gaider, and it turns out that he had coincidentally been writing this very scene when he saw the tweet where I announced the fact that I was making Qunaribela.

I’ve been waiting a veeeeeeeeery long time to say this, but:

Haters gonna hate

also, sup Spader *high fives*

Blood magic!!!

Then, just when I thought I had her, the station’s core went critical. I barely made it back to my ship in time. I watched the station from a distance. I never saw her leave. And when that station blew… there was nothing left bigger than a turian’s right nut. So, I went back to the diplomat to give him the good news and collect my pay. But before I got halfway there… Aleena sent me a message.

“Better luck next time.”

Alyssa and I decided to put our Wrex and Aria costumes to good use and visually tell Wrex’s story about his epic showdown with the merc Aleena—who would later become Aria T’Loak. Here’s the final installment—hope you enjoyed, and thanks for reading!

We also wound up on io9 and Kotaku in the past day, which was an enormous surprise. I’m glad people have had as much fun with this as we all did :D

For two days I chased her through that station. By the third day, the station was barely holding together. But I had her. She’d locked herself in the medlabs. She was trying to patch herself up. Damn tough, that one.

Sailor Fuku Cosplay Tutorial by ~SparklePipsi

An amazing tutorial on how to make your very own Sailor Senshi/Fuku Cosplay! Had a hard time finding really descriptive youtube tutorials surprisingly. So had to find step by step images!

If you still need to visually see how to make a pleaded skirt here’s a youtube link to How To Cosplay: Make A Pleated Skirt! Though she doesn’t use actually cloth in the tutorial she uses paper - I think it’s pretty useful.

Oh my god, Vi become a Sailor scout with me!

Anyway, when I told Aleena about the diplomat’s contract, she and I had a good laugh out of it. I was going to lose the contract, but I respected Aleena. In the end, I let her pick the location. She picked an old salarian space station, overrun with mercs and smugglers. That way we didn’t have to worry about hurting any “innocent” bystanders. She always was a bit of a softy.

Aleena and I were old friends. We met when we were contracted to kill the same Turian. Neither of us wanted to let the other get the Turian first. We spent more time trying to kill each other than track the turian.

“I remember one time I was hired by a Volus diplomat. What an ass. He wanted me to erase his past; get rid of an old friend that knew too much. His old friend turned out to be an Asari commando.”

Cosplay ≠ Consent @ Amazon Games

Our coworkers at Amazon have given Beth and I the opportunity to stand with them while they support 16-Bit Sirens’ CONsent movement, of which we are both huge advocates. The experience of being a part of something that means so much to both of us—and to do so on behalf of our employers—has been so meaningful that I had to tl;dr about it in a blog post, which also contains some more pictures from our shoot.

Beyond just Amazon’s support, Beth and I want you to know that we at Siren’s Call Creative also stand by any cosplayer who has felt any kind of harassment; assault; exploitation; manipulation and pressure; felt unsafe; been victim to a lot of crappy, unproductive commentary; or anything else I may be forgetting to mention. You are not alone and we will not only stand up with you, but also tell you how awesome you are because cosplay is fun and art and you are worth being praised, not appraised.

So: who’s with us?

subitoallegra:

Do you see this badass lady? Well, what if I were to tell you that this phenomenally talented cosplayer is celebrating her birthday today?

Because she is! MERRY BETHMAS, EVERYONE!

True story: I got to meet Beth in person for the first time a year ago, almost exactly to the date. I spur-of-the-moment convinced her to come to PAX East for partytimes—and, lucky me, it was her birthday gift to herself last year—and had an AWESOME, lifelong friendship-forging time. A year later, and actually getting to celebrate together this time, I’m so proud to call her my cosplay partner and resident prop-and-armor-making Bondo blood mage :’)

ANYWAY, wish this badass an awesome birthday for me, will you? And check out these gorgeous photos too, because UNF. The photos of the Sheriff of Lynchwood and Bethany Hawke were taken by the phenomenal Sonja Carter, and Evangeline by TRANIMAGING.

:) :) :) Best Bethmas Evarrrrrrrr!!!!

kesselruns:

So, in typical Mae fashion I had started writing this really beautiful eloquent post about my PAX East experience the second I woke up after the initial con-crash. And in even more typical me, I managed to somehow NOT SAVE IT AS A DRAFT. How is that even possible?

I do not know, but let me tell…

Excellent posts from one of my favorite new friends from PAX East :D

subitoallegra:

Beth and I leave for PAX East on Wednesday at 9 AM. UH-OH WE’D BETTER FINISH OUR COSTUMES ASAP

So here I am modeling the wig and hat (have to create attachment points there, which is why I’m holding it) and the WIP on the insane hook arm. Seriously, look at this fucking hook, Beth has done a PHENOMENAL job on it and that’s just unfinished with a really basic paint job. This baby is heavy, but totally worth it to lug around 8D

Coming today and tomorrow as we continue to work: actual shots of Scarlett’s costume, and a few pics of Beth wearing her badass Sheriff :)

In some strange way, this is exactly what I needed to see this morning.
